In a restorative practice the practitioner is lead toward a more healing and recuperative experience. We spend more time in the postures, and the prolonged holds in the supported asanas create an opportunity for us to let go and allow the tension & anxiety to release deeply and safely - leaving us feeling refreshed.
This gentle practice creates an excellent safe space where we can relax both mind and body. Each pose and each breath carry us toward all around balance strength and flexibility.
We disconnect from our daily active life and bring the speedometer back to 0 mph. We will benefit both by soothing the nervous system and enhancing our general mood.
The slow paced and deep breathing that we experience in a restorative practice triggers the parasympathetic and help to mitigate the effects of the regular fight or flight stress response.
An overall calming effect will also help reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and helps us cultivate our inner awareness so that we enhance our capacity to move inwards and a glimpse of the divinity within us.
NAMASTE,
Maryam
